Shiva gave him a boon of immortality as per Tarkasur request except Lord Shiva’s son. Satisfied with the thought that Lord Shiva follows ‘Vairagya’ (Detachment from earthy things and emotions), Tarkasur accepts Lord Shiva boon condition of immortality. Tarkasur was started evil by killing saints and destroy peaceful environment on earth. Saints and sages asked for help from Lord Shiva. Disturbed by wrong doings of Tarkasur, Lord Shiva married with Parvati and Kartikeya was born. Kartikeya soon killed Tarkasur but at the time of death Tarkasur makes prayer to Lord Shiva and asked for pardon. Mahadev then attached his name to the temple where Tarkasur meditated once and gave him boon to be prayed in Kalyug also. That place named as Tadkeshwar Mahadev. places.
Tadkeshwar Temple - 42 km
Located at some 1800 meters at a distance of 22 km from Lansdowne. Tadkeshwar Mahadev Temple is surrounded by Deodar trees and tranquil atmosphere which also favors it as a best meditation place for sages from a long time. Known by adding the name of a demon 'Tadkeshwar or Tadkeshwar' with Lord shiva 'Mahadev', Tadkeshwar Mahadev is a temple of deep faith and devotion to the Lord Shiva. Bhulla Lake (Bhulla Taal) - 20 km
Located at near to the Lansdowne city, Bhulla Lake is best place for kids, couples and old ones. Bhulla Lake has very neat and clean environment at the lap of nature. Tourists likes it as it is equally entertaining and peaceful with tranquil atmosphere. Still not much populated, Bhulla Lake is a man-made artificial lake. 'Bhulla' in local garhwali language means 'Young Brother'. Bhulla Lake is dedidated to the young Garhwali youth of Garhwal Rifles who helped in construction of the lake. Bhulla Lake has ample boating facilities with few ducks as well in the lake water. Beautiful duck shapped boats are available for paddling on the lake at very cheap rates. An amusement and children park is situated near the lake for the kids fun. A small over bridge on the lake attracts visitors for a best lake view. Stands are there to sit beside the lake. A bamboo machan and fountains are also constructed near the lake for more entertainment.
Darwan Singh Regimental Museum - 19 km
Darwan Singh Museum - Collection of History of Heroes, or Garhwali Musuem is a nicely decorated two stories museum having numerous details about the origin and achievements of the Garhwal Rifles of the Indian army. Visitors can see a wide collection of arms, old uniforms, rarest photographs of army generals, patriots in various wars, certificated and citations signed by the British royalty. Inside the museum photography and kids below 10 years not allowed. Tourist can also visit a beautiful flower garden outside the museum which consists at least 10-12 varieties of rose. Nearby there is the Parade Ground and Garhwal Rifles War Memorial which is not open for general public. Tip N Top is located at just 1.5 km from Lansdowne city on Pauri road and can be reached easily by trek. Visitors can also avail taxi to hill top and then trek for 200 mtrs to reach Tip N Top.
